Description Trockenkompasse oder auch Bootskompasse wie der von H. Petersen in Altona hergestellte sind einfach gebaut und haben sich seit dem 16. Jahrhundert kaum verändert. Sie besitzen eine magnetisierte Nadel unter der Kompassrose aus Pappe, die mit einem Messinghütchen auf einer zentralen Nadel gelagert ist. Der Kompass wird in einem Holzkästchen ohne eine kardanische Aufhängung aufbewahrt.
