| Note | Beschriftung auf Rückseite: "Constructed by George Stephenson in 1829 to compete in the Trial of Locomotive Engines on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway at Rainhill in October of that Year, when it gained the Prize of [Pound] 500, and at the opening of the Line, on September 15th 1830, unfortunately caused the Death of the right Hon. William Huskisson, then M. P. for Liverpool. This Engine was presented to the Commissioners of Patents in 1862 by Messrs. Thompson Bris, of Birkhouse, some of the missing Parts were restored by Messrs. G. u. R. Stephenson & Co, Newcastle-on-Tyne, and thenee were transmitted to the Patent Museum free of Charge by the London & Nordwestern Railway Company." |
